Introduction to Drone Engineering & Blockly
The foundational step into drone engineering. Drone anatomy, physics of flight, manual piloting, and Blockly visual programming on the CoDrone EDU.
Course overview
Students learn drone anatomy, the physics of flight, flight safety, and manual piloting on the CoDrone EDU. Using Blockly — a drag-and-drop visual programming tool — they program flight paths, light shows, and sensor reactions.
Core curriculum
Four themed modules. Each module is a working block of lessons and labs.
CoDrone EDU Basics
Drone anatomy, controller setup, pre-flight safety checks, and clean troubleshooting habits.
Blockly for Robolink
Welcome to Blockly · flight commands (takeoff, hover, rotate) · advanced flight (roll, pitch, yaw) · LEDs & sounds.
Control Structures
Variables, conditionals (if / else / else-if), loops, and functions — written entirely as visual blocks.
Sensors in Blockly
Use color, battery, barometer, gyro, accelerometer, and range sensors to make the drone respond to its world.
What you'll gain
- Confidence flying a quadcopter manually and with code
- Visual programming fluency in Blockly
- Understanding flight dynamics and safety
- Hands-on sensor-driven flight projects
