Robot Sumo
Autonomous wheeled robots compete in a sumo arena. Teams design and tune robots that detect the ring and the opponent.
Event overview
Teams build an autonomous wheeled robot that competes in match-format sumo bouts. Robots must pass safety inspection, then face opponents in elimination matches.
Rules & format
Each section defines a part of how the event is run. Hardware limits, scoring, and safety are inspected on-site.
Robot Build
Autonomous wheeled robot. Footprint between 15–30 cm, height between 6–30 cm. No unsafe extensions or moving hazards.
Weight & Power
Weight ≤ 2 kg. Battery ≤ DC 9V. Power must come from approved batteries — no external power during a match.
Inspection
All robots must pass safety, size, and battery inspection before matches. No hardware changes are allowed after inspection unless approved.
Scoring
Win-by-match outcomes. Officials record match results on signed score sheets. Disputes must be raised immediately to the head judge.
